From England, Where They’ve Made Frames an Obsession
Ask anyone in the know about Booth & Bruce, and they’ll likely respond in a similar fashion. This company makes no-nonsense designer frames that will make just about anyone happy. One look at their website, and you’ll see the same thing for yourself. Don’t let the mohawks fool you.
Simple and stylish the frames tend to evoke a timeless look that rarely, if ever, goes out of style.
Booth & Bruce England was originally created around 1999 by Peter Booth and Jeremy Setton. The goal at the outset was to give the eyeglasses wearers of Britain something innovative, provacative, and even wacky, to wear on their faces.
Categorized by others in the industry as being alternately “freewheeling,” “urban,” and “daring,” Booth & Bruce frames offer bright and brilliant colors in both plastic and metal frames. And they often combine colored plastic that teases the light and puts a splash of color on the face.
Booth & Bruce: The Early Years and Making Design the Focus
At the beginning, the pair of desingers began making their spectacles for stores that they owned — one each in London, and Brighton. Quickly, they began to sell their frames through other optical shops, and found that their competitors in the optician trade were facilitating a big business.
Booth & Bruce became an eyewear-only manufacturing company. Currently and since that point, the duo focuses on designing and producing their very unique eyeglass frames. According to the company’s site, “Booth & Bruce England aims to deliver a potent and sometimes eclectic combination of freewheeling urban adventure and daring design – giving British eyewear design something not seen before!”
In a phrase, the design duo says they’ve attempted to create “an organized chaos” that they hope reflects the new face of Britain in the 21st century.
Owners and designers Peter Booth & Jeremy Setton have created an organised chaos which reflects a new Britain in the 21st century.
